Some people deliberately crash for fraudulent claim?

It has been revealed recently that some drivers out there will consider deliberately crashing in order to make a claim on their insurance. What’s more shocking is that nearly half of the drivers actually were successfull in their claim.

Whether people are doing this because of their current situation in the recession or there is another reason, either way, making a fraudulent insurance claim is very dangerous. It could of course affect you in the long run, with getting insurance in the future, its very risky.

Industry shares views on scrappage scheme extension

Now that it has been announced. Many industries including car makers and the environmental agency are ready to share their views on the matter. Kia firstly who has benefited the most from the scrappage scheme naturally welcomed the extension with open arms stating how much car owners would continue to benefit from an extension.

It will boost the confidence of suppliers too.  However the environmental transport  association are unhappy about the extension with the prospect of more cars being scrapped which is apparently not a green process.

Government Extends Scrappage Scheme

The government is going to pump another £100 million into continuing the scrappage scheme. It has proved so successful and we have previously mentioned its progress many times on the blog.

Its good news for car owners also as the time for owning a car has extended by six months which means that if you own a V reg car, you now qualify for the scrappage scheme.

It will run till the end of February next year or sooner if the money runs out!

Tougher punishments for uninsured drivers?

Some time ago, we done a post on uninsured drivers and the fact that some of them are getting away with paying less for a fine than they would for their insurance premium.

Building upon this issue which is clearly still in the media’s eye. Either tougher regulations are said to be put in place or a different solution found to stop drivers and especially young drivers driving around without car insurance.

Some insurers are apparently already trialling a payd (pay as you drive) scheme which naturally lowers the cost of the insurance premium and is useful for those young drivers that are perhaps students or don’t require the use of a car all the time. Its a possibility or there is also the possibility of making driving tests tougher and harsher to stop people passing that could be a risk on the road. If theres any more news on this, i’ll post it on the blog.

No. of Credit Insurance claims drop

Recent research has revealed that the number of credit insurance claims has gone down for the first time in a whole year. Even though the number of insurance claims has dropped, unfortunately the value of each insurance claim has actually gone up. This could mainly be down to businesses buying up extra stock and then having to write it off when the business goes bust. This news proves that the country still is having problems with its economy.

Uninsured drivers mainly in London

Research carried out recently shows that the highest percentage of people driver a car without insurance are in Greater London.  People that own a vehicle now and don’t have insurance, whether they drive it or not will receive a fine of £100. It is being pushed that its simply not worth the risk not getting car insurance.

Closely behind London was Merseyside and Manchester. Figures of around 500 vehicles a day are taken each day because of no car insurance.

Audi keeps it crown

Car dealers in the UK still rate Audi as the most valued car franchise out there. Toyota came in a close second place which is a vast improvement on its position last year. Kia was third.

Car dealers were asked a number of questions and various statistics were taken from the answers. Overall, over 90% of car dealers were happy with their profits they received from their car sales and a high percentage are happy with the relationship they have with their car manufacturers.

This kind of information shows that car sales have definitely picked up and that uk car dealers are working closely with the car manufacturer. This bodes well for insurance companies too as providing car sales continue to rise, the number of insurance policies will rise. This could be generic car insurance or fleet car insurance.

Car sales on the rise

Latest research claims that last month in August car sales rose up to 5% higher than they were last August. Naturally we believe this is because of the government scrappage scheme. As car sales actually keep rising this year, it holds our government in good stead to get out of this ridiculous credit crunch.

Ford is still dominating the car sales with the highest percentage made, with vauxhall as always a close second.  All the major players in the car industry are now calling for an extension to the scrappage to help benefit the car industry. Hopefully September will also have a good month, especially with the introduction of the new number plate.

Disabled drivers struggle to get insurance

In recent news it has been discovered that insurers are now able to refuse to give out insurance premiums to disabled drivers with overly-modified cars.

With millions of disabled drivers out there, insurers are finding ways in the legislation to disallow higher premiums to either disabled badge holders or even disabled drivers.

The way we see it is that it should not be difficult for disabled drivers to get a quote for insurance and shouldn’t be refused car insurance from any insurer. If anything they are less likely to be at risk of accident opposed to other boy racer drivers with hugely modified cars.
