Traffic Surveillance teams are looking to change their current fleet of surveillance vehicles to the compact Toyota IQ. They have more space and are likely to carry more equipment than the current fleet of smart cars currently on the road.

New car sales higher in October!

The opposite to whats happening with used car sales is happening with new car sales! Motor car sales have risen by around 30% last month. The sales are due mainly to the extension of the scrappage scheme, in fact around 20% of the sales have been through the scrappage scheme.

The demand for fleet vehicles has also gone up from businesses which is good for fleet dealers. Last October there was around a 20% fall so to be up by so much this October is very good news. It is expected that sales will continue to go up for the next couple of months to the end of the year with fleet demands gradually decreasing. Watch this space!

Drop in Fleet sizes for UK Fleet Companies

It has been reported there has been a small percentage drop in the size of fleets for UK fleet companies. The drop is only just under 10 percent but this is likely to make a big impact across the big fleet companies. The reason for the drop is likely to be the recession, with the big merger of Lloyds & HBOS taking the largest chunk of the market.

Fleet companies that are going to be affected the most are likely to be the smaller fleet companies which naturally have smaller amount of fleets. The fleet sizes have not been this low since 2003.

Congestion charge rises & affects fleets

It has been announced recently that the congestion charge is going to rise for London. It will go from £8.00 to £10.00.

Previously those companies which had fleet cars and fleet insurance would pay a reduced fee by £1.00 to £7.00 but not they are going to have to pay full price to have their fleet cars go through into London.

There is a system that they are introducing call autopay where by the user can ask the system to automatically debit their account depending on how many trips they make into London and pay via credit or debit card. This could be useful for fleet car owners as if they sign up for the system, they will receive a discount of £1.00, bringing the cost to only £9.00 a trip.

There are now talks of introducing a congestion charge in the city of Cambridge. We’ll keep you posted.

Used car sales for Fleet fall

Its the first time the fleet car sales have fallen since the end of 2008.

Its only a short fall too, only 2 percent and the overall value of fleet cars has gone up by 0.6 percent so its not a significant difference to make a big impact to companies and wholesalers. As the increases have only gone up little by little over the 8 months since the fall, its possible that they won’t increase any more and its come to a stand still. We’ll keep you informed if this is the case.

Audi keeps it crown

Car dealers in the UK still rate Audi as the most valued car franchise out there. Toyota came in a close second place which is a vast improvement on its position last year. Kia was third.

Car dealers were asked a number of questions and various statistics were taken from the answers. Overall, over 90% of car dealers were happy with their profits they received from their car sales and a high percentage are happy with the relationship they have with their car manufacturers.

This kind of information shows that car sales have definitely picked up and that uk car dealers are working closely with the car manufacturer. Vauxhall suffer a massive loss in sales of fleet cars

Contracts for fleet cars chanage hands many times but in this case, Vauxhall have lost out big time.

A contract containing around 600 fleet cars has moved from Vauxhall to Hyundai. The contract is a driving school so the students will naturally be taking their lessons and tests in the small Hyundai i20 fleet car. It’s a nice looking hatchback and we feel that students would be quite comfortable driving it. Hyundai are likely to see a large increase in sales of the i20 because a high percentage of students will purchase the car they learnt in.
