Is protecting your no claims really worth it?

A nice idea to those wishing to protect their years of working up a good no claims record on their insurance premium. Whether you have motor trade insurance or just simple car insurance, is paying out for protecting your no claims discount really worth it?

Most insurance companies will have their own ways of calculating the actual discount you receive for having no claims so therefore it will have to be worthwhile to them having no claims protection. Some offer free bonus protection where as some companies can put a lot more onto a premium in exchange for no claims protection.

Britains come out on top against other European Countries

Research recently carried out has named the UK motorists as the most ‘Conscientious’ motorists in Europe. There were many questions asked in the survey and although we weren’t scored highly in some of the questions, mostly we came out on top.

4% of motorists in the UK admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol which is very low compared to some countries which had more than 20%. We also scored highly with low percentages in running a red light, undertaking and speeding. It turns out however that we are driving on a motorway for long periods of time without a break when we should be. Dont forget to visit our website if you would like a motor insurance quotation.

Motor Traders predict recession will last

After research carried out recently, it has been revealed that many motor traders believe that the recession will last a longer that it was originally thought.

We have been hearing that the recession is coming to a close and that the motor trade business will begin to pick up again at the start of next year but it appears that may not be the case. Some companies are planning on making job cuts and reducing their payroll over the coming months to tackle the recession so from this it doesn’t seem like things are improving any time soon. There have been reports of job cuts within the motor industry but for it to continue means that perhaps the country isn’t full out of this recession yet.

Credit Crunch affects Motor Trade jobs

The Motor Trade industry has been affected a lot in the last year with literally thousands of jobs being cut.

Around the same time as the ‘recession’ and ‘credit crunch’, many motor trade employers and motor trade companies have been going bust or into administration. This has meant that employees of these motor trade companies have lost their jobs. Of course some of the employers have had to make cut backs in their staff which has meant they have lost their jobs but one thing is clear, the motor trade industry has most definitely been affected by the recession and resulting in a rise in unemployment. Hopefully with the recession on its last legs and almost over, these motor trade companies can either build back up or will improve their sales enough to start increasing motor trade jobs.

Some drivers hide convictions for cheap insurance

Research carried out recently has shown that the public believe most accidents are caused by the use of a mobile phone at the wheel. Also it has been revealed that a lot of motorists will hide their convictions of using a mobile phone when driving or even speeding tickets. They will not tell the relevant insurance company of this therefore making their insurance cheaper. The research shows that the public who are being honested with their status are having to pay more for their insurance compared to others getting away with it.

Time will tell whether the government will crack down on either the convictions or the implications of being caught.

Scrappage scheme extended again!

Companies are looking to continue the scrappage scheme right up to the general election next year. Many are worried that if the scrappage scheme ends at the last quarter of this year then come the beginning of 2010, companies will suffer greatly. With the amount of new business and popularity of the scheme it has generated, it wouldn’t surprise me if it did continue right through to the election. Hopefully by this point the country’s economy would have evened out and possibly come further out of recession for the scrappage scheme to stop and not have a major impact on companies revenue.

Tip for fleet managers – reduce those petrol costs!

We have done articles previously for fleet companies and about how the one cost they are all trying to keep down is fuel consumption. With prices well over £1 a litre for both diesel and petrol, its no wonder they look to cut this cost first.

Well some fleet companies are starting to cut this cost, but only by reducing the amount of business miles that they put as an allowance each year. This means not all business trips will be accounted for and only the urgent, most essential trips are done. This makes sense for fleet managers but not necessarily for the empolyees using the fleet vehicles. The plan is being run in some companies so with a combination of fuel prices getting lowered, this should be some serious money saving.

Costs of running a car have risen since 2007

I’m sure i’m not the only one noticing how much it is costing to run a car these days. With petrol prices at an all time high and tax seeming to go up little by little every year, its no surprise that its costing us more to run our cars than it did two years ago.

Statistics have officially been released to say exactly how much we are spending on our cars and its easily in the thousands. The actual cost of repairs and insurance have been kept down due to the economic climate and the recession. This is mainly due to various companies/garages competing for the business.  The last two years have been very difficult for the country with regards to money and the credit crunch but hopefully soon we will be out of it and prices will start to level out if not drop.
