Vauxhall offer March promotion

Following in similar steps to Kia, Vauxhall have now introduced a promotion throughout march which they hope will boost sales after the scrappage scheme has ended. They are dropping the prices of some of their new entry level vehicles, whilst keeping the same specifications to try and entise customers in.

£1,000 will be knocked off the price of the new Corsa and £2,000 will be discounted off the new entry level Astra. The discounts are going to spread as far as other models such as the Insignia. The price reduction comes with the new ES & Expression range Vauxhall are pushing. This is the second car manufacturer to produce offers which fall in line with the scrappage scheme ending. General Motors find Temporary replacement

We posted recently about the GM boss resigning and staying in control till a replacement is found. Well it now seems like one has been found, but only on a temporary basis. His name is Nick Reilly and he is the former boss of motor company Vauxhall. He  is only taking over operations of General Motors Europe, not the whole General Motor’s company. He is said to have a lot of experience dealing with the opel/vauxhall brands so is an ideal fit for the role. We’ll see how this affects the search for a new CEO for the General Motors company but we’ll keep you posted!

General Motor’s Owner Resigns

The boss of General Motor’s is set to resign when the company has recruited his replacement. According to the motor company, they had already started searching for a new boss for Opel/Vauxhall but now they are on the hunt for a new GM boss too.

We have been covering what’s been happening with a proposed buy out of the company with the Canadian company Magna International and when it fell through, we weren’t expecting the boss of the motor company to step down. Until his replacement is found, Carl-Peter Foster will resume his normal duties.

General Motors Keep Hold of Vauxhall

After much deliberation of a take over. Opel/Vauxhall are staying up with GM (General Motors). It comes as quite a shock to the motor trade industry as it was almost certain that they would be moving to Magna International based in Canada.

The reason that the take over has fallen through could be from the 4.5 Billion Euro loan they received from the German government.  According to GM, the European market has improved and so has their own financial stability (this could be from the huge loan!). It proves that its possible to revive a fallen motor company, especially in the current climate. For Vauxhall/Opel, its onwards and upwards, working on what they do best and improving their vast range of vehicles.

Car sales on the rise

Latest research claims that last month in August car sales rose up to 5% higher than they were last August. Naturally we believe this is because of the government scrappage scheme. As car sales actually keep rising this year, it holds our government in good stead to get out of this ridiculous credit crunch.

Ford is still dominating the car sales with the highest percentage made, with vauxhall as always a close second.  All the major players in the car industry are now calling for an extension to the scrappage to help benefit the car industry. Hopefully September will also have a good month, especially with the introduction of the new number plate.

Vauxhall suffer a massive loss in sales of fleet cars

Contracts for fleet cars chanage hands many times but in this case, Vauxhall have lost out big time.

A contract containing around 600 fleet cars has moved from Vauxhall to Hyundai. The contract is a driving school so the students will naturally be taking their lessons and tests in the small Hyundai i20 fleet car. It’s a nice looking hatchback and we feel that students would be quite comfortable driving it. Hyundai are likely to see a large increase in sales of the i20 because a high percentage of students will purchase the car they learnt in.

Vauxhall has claimed that this blow does not impact their sales and they still have many long-standing fleet customers. For Fleet car, van or truck insurance; you can visit broadsure direct at www.broadsuredirect.com/fleet-insurance.htm .

New Vauxhall VXR

The new Vauxhall VXR has been recently unveiled after extensive tests at the world famous nurburgring.

Vauxhall Insignia VXR

The new vauxhall packs a 300 horsepowered punch and comes with a turbo charged V6 engine. Not quite the power of the previous Monaro VXR but it still manages 0 to 60 in under 6 seconds. Still impressive for a Saloon car. The full name Vauxhall Insignia VXR is being compared to the likes of the Audi S4 matching a limit of around 160 MPH.

We shall see just how popular the VXR version of the Insignia is when its on the market for a tasty £30,000.
