Four colourful trucks (white, blue, red, yellow) are parked in a row on a wet pavement. Dramatic sunset sky in the background.

The RAC is significantly expanding its telematics offering after forming a new strategic partnership with telematics specialist CalAmp.

The move introduces a more advanced version of the RAC Connected platform, giving fleet operators access to enhanced fleet‑management tools, AI‑powered video technology and automated crash detection features.

The upgraded platform is designed to help fleets reduce risk, improve driver safety and manage operating costs more effectively.

One of the most notable additions is the option to integrate AI‑powered video dashcams which can provide dual‑facing footage, in‑cab alerts and automatically organised clips. These help fleets review incidents easily and coach their drivers based on factual evidence.

The platform can also detect collisions automatically using CalAmp’s CrashBoxx AI technology, triggering instant alerts to support faster incident response.

The RAC says the upgrade is built to scale with growing fleet needs. Businesses can start with basic telematics features and add video or crash‑intelligence modules later.

CalAmp provides the technology behind the platform while the RAC continues to lead customer service and support. According to the RAC, the aim is to strengthen the behind‑the‑scenes capability so customers can focus on running their businesses more efficiently.
