Young drivers beware!

It’s a way of maintaining a good rate on motor insurance but it’s been recently flagged in the media, we’re talking about having a parent listed as a main driver of your car when in fact they aren’t and could result in bad consequences.

Its a risk to take and theres no problem listing a parent as a main driver if this is actually true, but if you are caught out. Insurers could refuse to pay the bill and if there is an injury to the party involved then the costs involved could be thousands. Because it has been brought to the media’s attention, its a chance for parents to realise that the practice is in fact illegal and stop immediately. All the insurers need to do is ask neighbours who drives the car on a regular basis and this could be enough of a reason to not pay out the insurance costs.

..and now for some news on Business Insurance

Here at the Broadsure Direct blog, we don’t usually mention or write articles related to Business Insurance, which is unsual as Broadsure Direct offer competitive rates on Business Insurance. We thought we mix it up a little with some news on a new package being offered by insurance company NIG.

It focuses on small – medium sized businesses and the quoting system has been altered, enabling you to get far more compeitive and flexible pricing through insurance brokers. For larger risks, the Royal Bank of Scotland are offering new no claims discounts with broker discretion to enable even more savings for customers. Will 20% of car sales be online only in the next few years?

The Internet is said to be bringing new changes every day with more and more people using the web for purchasing goods online. Nowadays, the trust in buying goods online is always increasing and its said that in the next 3-5 years, people will have the confidence to buy cars online.

Obviously there will have to be a lot of information on the car held on the website for people to fully trust the seller. This could include reviews, best prices, videos of the vehicle, pictures and insurance information. The only reason people will not buy online is because they haven’t test driven the vehicle. In my personal opinion, I believe the only thing holding back car sales online is the lack of the option to test drive the vehicle, at which point the buyer could then speak face to face with an advisor and then decide on purchasing the vehicle. Even though the Internet is making purchasing goods a easier, straight forward process, I don’t believe it will account for any more than 20% of sales.

Hyundai Scoop massive fleet deal worth £7m

The new i30 from Hyundai is already proving a very popular car with its excellent reliability and fuel consumption. It won the award for the UKs most reliable car beating Jaguar who was the previous winner. Because of this, the driving school Bill Plant has decided to take on 600 i30 vehicles to build on their already large amount of i20 fleet cars. The deal is estimated at £7 million at show room prices and the excellent fuel consumption from the i30 seemed to be its major selling point to the driving school. The cars are set to start being delivered in the next month. If you have a fleet of vehicles then you can get a quote for fleet insurance from Broadsure Direct. Government transport rules

Today the governments rules and plans were unveiled, more specifically, transport plans. There some interesting points in which they have made, firstly for our hgv insurance customers, the government plans to introduce a system in which hgv drivers will be charged to ensure that UK hauliers meet a new fair usage policy.

General motor plans in which our motor trade insurance customers may find useful is that the newly formed government are planning a national recharging network for all the new hybrid and fully electric vehicles that are going to be growing in popularity. Something in which the government is highly focused on is cutting emissions. Lastly, they are going to put a stop to central funding for fixed speed cameras. We’ll let you be the judge on that last one.

Chrysler extends dealer network to Kent

Being from Kent and working at Broadsure Direct based in Ramsgate, Kent, we just can’t help but prick up our ears when you hear the words Chrysler and Kent in the same sentence.

It turns out that due to some noticeable profits last year, Chrysler are making steps forward to extend their dealer network. They started at the end of last year when they added 7 new names to their list and continue by coming down to Kent and signing up Ashford Orbital as their next dealer. Currently Ashford Orbital already do business for Mazda, Kia and Hyundai. It’ll be interesting to see how Chrysler do this year with the end of the scrappage scheme and the economy getting itself back on track!

New vehicle added to Police Fleet

With its good mpg and CO2 emissions, the Jaguar XF has been chosen by the Central Motorway Police Group to join its fleet of vehicles. The Model they chose is the Diesel S which does 42mpg and has a rating of 179 g/km. One major factor that the police took into account before chosing it for its fleet is that the Jaguar retains its vehicle value very well. In the first year, the new fleet vehicle still keeps 80% of its original value. If you have a fleet of vehicles and require fleet insurance then contact Broadsure Direct on 0845 658 6587 or visit their fleet insurance page.

Super Fast Ferrari sets new Nurburgring Record

On the 23rd April, the 7 minute barrier was broken on the Nordschleife circuit by the Ferrari 599XX. Its the first production-derived car to do it, based on the 599 GTO.

The 599XX has had many modifications from the GTO and some of which have actually been included now into the 599 GTO, the 599XX is of course designed for track racing but not necessarily official competitions. The car combined the new Actiflow system which has been developed to increase downforce was used for the first time and other minor tweaks which meant the amount of downforce at high speeds was incredible (up to 630kg at top speed). MG Returns with New “Zero”

Last year, MG released information of their new family car which should be coming out later this year. The MG6 was announced way back in November and according to the factory in the UK, the ZF is back in production so things are looking up for MG. Last Friday in the Beijing Motor Show, they released further information on the next car to be released, the Zero Concept. This is a 3/5 door hatchback which looks just a slick as the old ZR. Hoping to compete with the likes of the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo, MG are seeming quite confident that the Zero will hit a global market. The interior of the vehicle looks stunning and it sounds like the car is going to be packed with all latest gadgets.

Well the service currently only shows exterior views of buildings but Google are offering an extended service to Motor Traders/Dealers who wish to show off the interior of their premises/showrooms. Its a great opportunity for the traders to create a great impression of their interior and exterior and entice consumers to visit.
