Volkswagen has unveiled a major upgrade to the VW Caddy, refreshing one of the UK’s most popular small vans with updated styling and improved in‑cab technology.

The changes are designed to keep the Caddy relevant for modern fleets, trades and business users, while retaining the practicality that has made it a long‑standing favourite.

The upgraded Caddy builds on the fifth‑generation model launched in 2020 and reflects Volkswagen’s focus on improving usability, versatility and driver comfort, while retaining the features that have made the Caddy a staple for tradespeople, service fleets and urban delivery operations.

At first glance, the updates are evolutionary rather than radical, but they bring a more contemporary look to the Caddy range. Changes include a revised front bumper, new exterior paint options and an updated selection of 16‑ to 18‑inch alloy wheels, depending on trim and configuration.

The design refresh is intended to modernise the vehicle without compromising the practicality that underpins its appeal. For fleets, this balance can be important, particularly where vehicles are customer‑facing and brand image matters as much as function.

While Volkswagen has not yet revealed full details of the revised cabin, it has confirmed that the updated Caddy will receive a reworked interior, including a larger, free‑standing central display. Further information is expected closer to the start of pre‑sales later in the year.

Improved in‑cab technology and clearer digital interfaces are becoming increasingly important for fleet operators, particularly as vehicles integrate navigation, driver assistance systems and connectivity tools that support route planning and compliance.

One of the Caddy’s key strengths is its wide range of options. The updated range will continue to include Cargo and Passenger models, as well as standard and long‑wheelbase versions. Seating options range from two seats in panel van form to five or seven seats in passenger configurations.

Specialist versions such as the Caddy Flexible, which allows operators to switch between passenger and load‑carrying layouts, and the Caddy California campervan remain part of the lineup.

With more than half a million Caddy units delivered globally in 2025, and millions produced since the model’s introduction, the Caddy remains a cornerstone of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ range.

The latest upgrade is designed to ensure the model continues to meet the evolving needs of modern fleets, combining familiar practicality with updated technology and a refreshed appearance — a formula likely to keep the VW Caddy firmly on the shortlist for UK fleet buyers.
