Kia has expanded its growing electric van line‑up with the unveiling of the PV5 Crew, a new model designed to switch quickly between carrying people and transporting cargo.
The vehicle forms part of Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) strategy and is aimed squarely at operators that need flexibility within a single working day.
Based on the PV5 Cargo L2/H1, the PV5 Crew has been developed as a factory‑built solution rather than an aftermarket conversion, reflecting Kia’s push to deliver purpose‑designed electric light commercial vehicles for European fleets.
The key feature of the PV5 Crew is its one‑touch seat lever system, which allows drivers to switch from a two‑seat cargo layout to a five‑seat crew configuration in seconds. The mechanism tips the rear seat cushions and slides the partition in a single action, with no tools required.
This approach is intended to support businesses whose vehicles may need to carry staff to a site in the morning and equipment or materials later in the day, without requiring separate vehicles or complex conversions.
The PV5 Crew is produced as part of Kia’s ‘Made in Plant’ (MIP) conversion programme, meaning the crew configuration is integrated directly at the factory. Kia says this allows for higher levels of build quality, durability and consistency compared with traditional after-sales conversions.
Power for the PV5 Crew comes from a 51.5kWh battery, delivering an estimated all‑electric range of up to 283km, while the maximum payload of 625kg reflects the compromise made when combining load-carrying capability with passenger seating.
Kia is aiming the PV5 Crew at sectors such as construction, maintenance, landscaping and facilities management, where vehicles are often required to carry both people and equipment over the course of a day.
While full UK pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed, Kia has stated that production is planned to begin in April 2026, with further market details to follow.
Further details on UK specifications and availability are expected in the coming months.
